Mercury Retrograde began March 30 - the energy is The Moon

Mercury Retrograde began yesterday at 2:48 pm Mountain time, dear readers. As always, I consulted my StarGate card deck to find the energy that will best help us move through it. They told me to look to The Moon:

The Moon is the energy of longing, instincts, and magnetism. It is a feminine energy that tells us to trust our instincts, attune to Goddess energy and moon cycles, and be consciously aware of what we are magnetizing into our lives at this time. Mercury Retrograde will end on April 23 at 4:04 am.

About Mercury Retrograde: We often dread this time because when the planet of communication goes backwards, our plans get messed up. We should be careful about taking on new ventures, double-check important emails, faxes, etc. and expect some delays, especially towards the end of the cycle. If we can't move forward, let's rest and re-group. 

Here are some useful things to do during Mercury Retrograde: take naps - watch a favorite movie - finish reading a book ~ complete a project ~ clean out clutter ~ get outdoors and enjoy the spring air.

Spring Equinox Forecast 2011: the prevailing energy takes The Cake

We've cycled over the Spring Equinox (at 5:21 pm Mountain time), dear readers, so no matter what you see outside your window, Spring in the northern hemisphere is officially here! My forecast for now through Beltane (May 1) shows that this may be a delicious time period - in fact, it takes The Cake:

Follow me on the steps to get there:

Where we are now is The Tree - the expression of maturity, shelter, and stability. Coming up ahead of us is The Fire, the element of passion, intensity, and creativity. Our higher selves want us go Inward, to clarify our needs and motives, even as we pay attention to The Cake - the fulfillment of I Want. Helping to restore balance to all of this is The Glove - the attitude of accepting assistance while letting the world know who you are through your everyday actions.

Yes, dear readers, it's all about the tension between I Have and I Want. While this basically is a focus on resources at levels - including comforts and pleasures - one does not have to look very far into the daily news to see the world being given more than a few wake-up calls about our collective disregard for the earth and her gifts. It's enough to remind us that someone once said,

Success is having what you want. Happiness is wanting what you have.

So once again, humanity is faced with an opportunity to choose: Will we own our fire, create for endurance and substance, and select a quality of life that allows us to be happily careful with the resources given us? 

The time is now. This forecast is in effect through May 1, with peak energy periods of April 4-5 and May 1 itself. And we're given a chance to look back on the lessons of the past from March 30 - April 23, when Mercury goes Retrograde! More on that in a future post :)

March 2011 Energy Forecast: The Child

It looks like we might have a playful month ahead of us, dear readers. March supposedly comes in like a lion, but the energy for this month of the year 2011 is best described as The Child ~

The Child represents new potential emerging from within us. Like a two-year-old, however, it can be impulsive and wanting its own way. Maybe that's where the lion comes in? It's best to focus on the curious nature of this energy, be willing to explore new spaces, and remember to inquire rather than judge. We'll be in a learning mode as well this month, for the energy of the Child supports us in gathering information, communicating and socializing with others, and connecting with our environment. The peak time for expressing this energy is March 10-12, but of course these themes will be present in some form right up to April's first days.

Heads Up: We have a couple of celestial events filling in the last weeks of March. Spring Equinox occurs on March 20th at 5:21 pm, Mountain Time. I'll be here with a thorough reading for cross-quarter period of the Equinox to Beltane (May 1). Then, on March 30 at 2:48 pm, Mercury goes Retrograde for about three weeks, giving us another chance to re-learn any lessons we haven't quite mastered. I look at Mercury Retrogrades as good times to clean out closets and finish my taxes, so the timing quite appropriate this year!
