9 pm and the moon is orange!
Many of my Facebook friends in Albuquerque have been posting pictures of the red-orange sunsets we've had recently: smoke from the massive forest fires in Arizona has drifted in and is altering our air and our sunsets. Well, here's a picture of our smoky orange MOON ~ I stepped outside around 9 this evening and caught these snaps of the half moon, high in the sky but with a distinct yellow-orange tone that you normally see when it's closer to the horizon:
We've been breathing the smoke on and off for almost a week now. It's hard; I know some folks bronchitis and asthma who are prepared to evacuate if the breathing gets too hard. But it's not nearly as bad as what the folks in the vicinity of the fire are going through - evacuations, loss of homes, loss of livelihood. This article {click here} has a good summary of the fire size, conditions, and impacts, so I will say no more except to wish safety for all who are affected, and a return of less wind and more moisture!
